Trudi Tenant & Landlord App

From separate requests to one conversation

I worked on a companion app for tenants and landlords, and helped replace scattered design files with one shared workflow.

Problem

  • Requests sent through traditional channels took too long to resolve.
  • Tenancy and lease information was hard to access.

Solution

The companion app lets tenants and landlords raise inquiries directly with property managers, supported by a personal AI Assistant at any time.

Users

The app serves tenants and landlords whose properties are managed by agencies using Trudi platforms.

Process

Initial problems

I inherited designs from the previous team while continuing new feature work. At that point, I was the only designer.

  1. Designs were scattered across several files, despite the project’s small size.
  2. Missing components caused inconsistency across files.
  3. Moving from Sketch designs to InVision prototypes made the process time-consuming for a small team.

First steps

I proposed changes to the product owner and COO, explaining the existing problems with the process, tools and files.

  1. Use Figma for design, prototyping and review.
  2. Merge the app’s design files into one manageable file.
  3. Build reusable components to keep the project consistent.

Evolution

The app evolved to include auto-translation, video calls and out-of-office messages. The largest change was the conversation model.

Before
Emergencies, document requests and inspections each had a separate message chain.
After
Tenants and landlords raise requests in one conversation with the AI Assistant.

Features

AI Assistant

The AI Assistant answers inquiries. When a request needs a property manager’s attention, it gathers the relevant information and passes the request into their Trudi Portal inbox.

Lease summary

A lease summary keeps the most important tenancy information easily accessible.

Video call

Built-in video calls let property managers inspect maintenance issues from their desk. They can take screenshots and screencasts during the call and pass them to suppliers.

Auto translation

Users and property managers can write in their native language; the AI Assistant translates the messages.

Agency-branded UI

Agency-branded UI was part of the app’s feature set.
